John Hackworth – Director of U.S. Soccer Development Academy and U.S. Men’s National Team Assistant Coach Presents to Texas Soccer Club
John Hackworth, US Men’s National Team Assistant Coach and the Director of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Program spoke last night about the Development of the Elite player and how meaningful games and a better training to game ratio will improve the Elite player and prepare them for the future. This information was exciting and refreshing for Youth Soccer in South Texas and in the direction that the TSC Texans are going. U.S. Soccer has Selected 75 Clubs in the country to be an extension of the highly successful U17 US National Team residence Program. “ We currently have 40 players in the U17 U.S. National Team Residency program, with the US Soccer Development program we now can reach over 3000 players,” John Hackworth, US Men’s National Team Assistant Coach. This program will not only effect the players that are selected for the TSC Texans U16/U15 and U18/U17 U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams but will affect the entire club structure. All of our players will receive the benefits of being part of the U.S. Soccer Development Program.

TSC Texans player Tyler Deric to Tryout with Houston Dynamo First Team
Tyler Deric Gk for the TSC Texans 88/89 will attend practice with the Houston Dynamo First team Today and Tomorrow. Tyler is an exceptional GK who led the TSC Texans to the Region III Championship last season by qualifying twice. His team was the U18 South Texas State Champions and they Qualified through the USYS Premier League. Tyler attended the UNC Chapel Hill as a freshman in the Fall 2007 and won the starting position for the Tar Heels.

Texas Soccer Club - Texans is proud to announce that we have been selected to join the United States Soccer Federation Development Academy for the 2008/2009 season.
The USSF Development Academy is a comprehensive program designed to improve the development of Elite Players by providing improved competition, training for players, coaches, and referees. The USSF Development Academy is an extension to the very successful U.S. Under 17 Residence Program. John Hackworth is the Technical Director of the USSF Development Academy and is the US Men’s National Team assistant coach. The Academy will provide an improved scouting environment for college, professional and U.S. National Team Coaches.
U15/U16 and U17/18 boys’ teams will be competing in regional conference play, showcase weekends and travel partner weekends. The Dallas Texans and Solar Soccer Club have also been selected to join the USSF Development Academy.

A recommendation has been made as an alternative to your standard end of the year coach's gift; a contribution to Curing Kid's Cancer. Earlier this year, a young man of 14 who played soccer for the Classics passed away from cancer. His father asked the Club to pass along this website www.curingkidscancer.org. TSC Challenge Players and Coach Head to Europe with the Region ODP Teams in March and April
The Region III Olympic Development Program is sending 3 teams to Europe during the months of March and April. Region III is the Southern Region of the United States. Players are selected to these teams by making their state team and then being selected to the Region teams over the summer. Region III is made up of the south east part of the country and includes 12 states.
Hanna Gilmore and Lyndsey Gnatzig are heading to Spain over Spring Break with the 91 ODP Region Team. Ana Pontes, Elizabeth Delozier and Katie Hamilton will travel to England and Holland with the 89/90 ODP team. Pat O’Toole will be the assistant coach for the team. Kris Nulik from Texas Sports Medicine Center will also be traveling with the 89/90 team as the team athletic trainer. Addie Eggleston and Nicole Duarte will head to Italy in April with the 92 ODP team.
Congratulations to the girls and good luck on their travels. We are confident that they will represent TSC Challenge, the State, Region, and the country very well. These trips will include playing 3 games against top European teams, watching a professional game, and experiencing the culture of the country they are visiting. This is an incredible opportunity for our girls.

TSC Challenge 95 and TSC Challenge 94 Competed in the Las Vegas Showcase Last weekend, March 14-15, 2008
Congratulations to TSC Challenge 95 for coming in second place. They lost a hard fought final 3-1 to the D’Feeter’s 95 from Dallas. The team won their groups with wins over Eclipse Select from the Chicago area, 4-0, Sereno from Arizona, 2-1, and tied Colorado Rush 2-2. In the semifinals, the team faced the host club and Region IV champion Neusport Football Club 2-0. The girls had a great time and played some outstanding soccer.
TSC Challenge 94 lost to Carmel 2-1, beat Neusport FC 2-0, and tied Glendora FC 0-0. They came in second in their group and played Mustang in their consolation game and lost 2-0. The team gained a great deal of experience and played some outstanding teams.

7 TSC Challenge Players Participating in Developmental Camps this Weekend
TSC Challenge has 6 players attending the adidas ESP Camp and one player attending the U15/U16 ODP Development Camp. Both Camps are being held in Pomona California from February 20-25. Addie Eggleston, Nicole Duarte, Rebecca Twinning, Kelsey Missimer, Gabrielle Lang, and Meghan Gibbons will attend the adidas ESP Camp. Shannon McLain will attend the ODP Developmental Camp. Both offer great opportunities for these players to improve as players and gain exposure to great coaching and players from around the country. All of these players are sophomores and play for either TSC Challenge 91 or TSC Challenge 92. more

KLEIN, TEXAS - The Texas Soccer Club (TSC) of Klein, Texas, a nationally recognized select soccer club for boys and girls, is proud to announce the scholarship signings of 40 of their players with major colleges and universities across the country on February 6, the first day of signing. Texas Soccer Club is made up of two divisions. The TSC Challenge is the girls division and the TSC Texans is the boys division. The girl’s have 29 seniors signing National letters of Intent and the boys have 11 players signing National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 the first day for players to sign. The TSC Class of 2008 is one the most talented classes in the country. more

TSC Texan Goes to England
TSC Texans Midfielder Daniel Roberts will travel to England to train and tryout with Norwich City of the English Championship. Daniel played with the 88/89 TSC Texans who were State Champions last season. He was also a member of the 89’ Region III ODP team and also participated in the Houston Dynamo Academy for 6 months before going to play college soccer at the University of North Carolina- Wilmington. “Daniel has been one of most talented players, he reads the game better than most and is very composed on the ball. I know Daniel will do very well at Norwich City” says Director of Coaching Scott Dymond.

Brian Ching of the Houston Dynamo Attends Practice with the U11 and U12's
Brian Ching from the Houston Dynamo came out to Meyer Park Tuesday, February 5th to sign autographs for our U11 and U12 teams as part of TSC’s sponsorship with Gatorade. Gatorade brought Brian out in conjunction with the USA vs. Mexico game to be held Wednesday, February 6th.

TSC Texans 90/91 Success at Disney Showcase - "The Proving Ground"
Three TSC Texans (U15, U17 and U18) teams played at the Disney Showcase and the highlight was the U17 TSC Texans who played some of their best soccer. They beat the Indiana State Champions, New Jersey State Champions, South Carolina State Champions and the Missouri State Champions to Advance to the Finals of the Disney Showcase, One of the best events in the country. They played the New York State Champions in the Final and had the better chances to win the game. At the end of regulation the teams were tied 1-1 and that score stayed the same during overtime. We went into PK’s and New York edged us out scoring all 5 PK’s, we missed 1. It was an outstanding week as many of our players have opened more doors to college programs. The Texas Blue Chip Showcase is next for the U17’s on February 9th and 10th, 2008. more

Texas Soccer Club sends 7 teams to the Southern Regionals in Oklahoma this week
The Southern Regionals begin play on June 29th and the finals are on July 4th. The winners will advance to Nationals in late July. You can follow the scores on the Southern Regional website at http://www.southernregionals.org/. Good luck to teams.

TSC Texans 88/89 win US Youth Soccer National Cup State Championship
In
early June, the TSC Texans 88/89 won the US Youth Soccer National
Cup State Championship in Austin. The TSC U18 Boys won the state
championship for South Texas with a 1-1 tie vs old rivals Houstonians
FC 89, a 3-0 win over the AU Capitals Navy, and a 3-2 win in an
exciting hard-fought game vs the Lonestars 89B Red. more

will represent South Texas at the Regional Championships June 28-

TSC Texans Elite '91 Win the Region III President's Cup in Tampa, Florida
The TSC Texans
Elite '91, after winning the STYSA President's Cup State
Championship in May, traveled to Tampa, Florida, for the Region
III President's Cup competition over the weekend of June 8-10.
This tournament pulls teams from 12 state associations to determine
a champion. This year 10 teams in the U16 age group made the
trip to Tampa. more

TSC Challenge Blitz 92 Take Region 3 Presidents Cup!
TSC Challenge Blitz 90, TSC Challenge Blitz 94, and TSC Challenge
Blitz 92 all competed in the Presidents Cup Regional’s in
Tampa, Florida last Week. TSC Challenge Blitz 90 and 94 both lost
in the semifinals and TSC Challenge Blitz 92 won the Presidents
Cup Regional’s. Each of the teams had a great Spring Cup

U20 National Team Trains in College Station –
Whitney Hooper
will play for the USA
TSC Challenge 88 and A&M signee Whitney Hooper will train and play with the U20 National Team this week in College Station. The U20 National Team is training at the Texas A&M Soccer Complex this week. They have games scheduled against BYU, SMU, and Texas A&M.

TSC Challenge Blitz 92 Player Wins at Rodeo Calf Scramble
Maddye Clarke competed against 28 boys and girls to catch
one of only 14 calves in the Houston Rodeo's calf scramble event
March 15, and not only caught a calf, she was the first one to
bring her calf into the winner's square. For catching her calf
Maddye received a $1000 certificate toward the purchase of a
show heifer that she will compete with at the Livestock Show
next year. For the First Catch award, a rare feat for a girl,
she was given a commemorative belt buckle and will receive a
$150 check. Maddye is in her first year with the Klein Collins
FFA. She was selected for the event by her Agriculture teachers
after writing an essay on why she should be part of the calf
scramble.

Whitney Hooper goes to Mexico with the U20 National Team
Whitney is currently a player for TSC Challenge 88, and will begin college at Texas A&M this summer. She has been a member of the State and Region ODP teams for several years and has been a member of the U16 National Team in the past. This is her first opportunity with the U20 National Team. Hanna Gilmore and Lyndsey Gnatzig both represented Region III ODPin California this past week. Each Region brings players in the 90 and 91 age groups. Players train and play with players from the other regions at the event. The goal is to have an event where the focus is on training and development instead of just competing. Both Hanna and Lyndsey play for TSC Challenge 91.

Congratulations to Christian Duarte and Matt Kirby who have also joined the Houston Dynamos Academy Program. Christian will be one of the youngest players in the program as a 1994 birth date. Christian plays on the TSC Texans 92/93 Premier League team. Matt Kirby will join the U18 Academy program. Matt currently plays on the 89/90 TSC Texans. The TSC Texans now have 9 players involved with the Houston Academy Program.

TSC Challenge 88 player, Nicole Ketchum, has been selected to play in the first training camp for the U20 National Team. Nicole currently is a freshman attending Texas A&M. As a youth player, Nicole was selected to the State and Region Teams. This is her first opportunity to be selected to play with a National Team. TSC Texans win Eclipse Cup
The TSC Texans finished with 2 first place trophies, 1 second
place and 1 third place trophy to win the Boys
Eclipse Cup. The
U11 TSC Texans and the U12 TSC Texans both finished in First place,
each with 3 wins. The U14 TSC Texans finished in 2nd place
with 1 win and 2 ties and the U13 TSC Texans finished in 3rd place
with 2 wins and 1 loss. The overall record of the TSC Texans
was 9 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss.

Taylor Craig Joins the Houston Dynamo Academy Program.

Craig, A member of the TSC Texans 90/91 team is now the
second player to be selected to the Houston Dynamo Academy Program.
Taylor is a member of the South Texas 1991 ODP State team and was
selected to the 1991 Region III ODP pool in the summer of 2006.

has verbally committed to play college at the University of North

in the third round of Friday's MLS Super Draft by reigning Cup
Champion Houston Dynamo at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

TSC Texans Named All American and Texas High School Player of the Year
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America and adidas have recently selected Chad Bauman, TSC Texans 88-89 Co-Captain, as a 2006 NSCAA/adidas High School Boys ALL-AMERICAN. Coaches also ranked top players in the state and voted Bauman as the NSCAA/adidas High School Texas STATE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. more

Former Players invited into the 2007 Adidas MLS Combine
Congratulations to Justin Douglass and Mike Sambursky who have been invited to the 2007 Adidas MLS Combine. MLS announced the list of 58 college seniors who will participate in the 2007 adidas MLS Player Combine Jan. 5-8 at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Justin and Mike both played for the Houston Classics 84/85 Blue. Michael went on to play at the University of South Carolina while Justin when on to play college soccer at Missouri State University. Both players had outstanding college careers.

U18 TSC Texans 88/89 clinch spot at the Region III Championships in Oklahoma City in June 2007
The U18 TSC Texans 88/89 guaranteed themselves either first or second place in the Premier League (West) with a 2-0 win over Tulsa Soccer Club on Saturday. Landon Fruge and Scottie Rojo scored the goals for the TSC Texans. The team finishes with a Premier League record of 8-2-0. They finish with a fall record of 17-2-0 that includes tournaments and college showcases. This is a great accomplishment. Congratulations to the players, the team and club. U12 TSC Texans 94/95 Win the South Texas State Championship
Well done to the U12 TSC Texans 94/95 boys on winning the South Texas State Finals this past weekend. They did it with 36 points out of an available 40!
The U12 TSC Texans have played 20 games, winning 18, losing 1 and drawing 1. Scoring 89 goals and conceding 18 goals. This is an outstanding record in any league or age group. Challenge Players Represented Region ODP at the Thanksgiving Interregional
Five TSC Challenge Players Represented Region ODP at the Thanksgiving Interregional in Florida last week. Rebecca Twining, Nicole Duarte, and Addie Eggleston played for the Region III 92 ODP team. Jessica Mills played for the 89 ODP Pool Team. Katie Williams played for the Region III 89 ODP Team. In addition to these girls being select, Pat O’Toole, TSC Challenge DOT, was the assistant coach for the Region III 89 ODP team. Niki Arlitt was also select to attend the event, but was unable to attend due to injury. more
