TSC Texans 90/91 Success at Disney Showcase - "The Proving Ground"
3 TSC Texans (U15, U17 and U18) teams played at the Disney Showcase and the highlight was the U17 TSC Texans who played some of their best soccer. They beat the Indiana State Champions, New Jersey State Champions, South Carolina State Champions and the Missouri State Champions to Advance to the Finals of the Disney Showcase, One of the best events in the country. They played the New York State Champions in the Final and had the better chances to win the game. At the end of regulation the teams were tied 1-1 and that score stayed the same during overtime. We went into PK’s and New York edged us out scoring all 5 PK’s, we missed 1. It was an outstanding week as many of our players have opened more doors to college programs. The Texas Blue Chip Showcase is next for the U17’s on February 9th and 10th, 2008.

TSC Texans Elite '91 Win the Region III President's Cup in Tampa, Florida
The TSC Texans Elite '91, after winning the STYSA President's Cup State Championship in May, travelled to Tampa, Florida, for the Region III President's Cup competition over the weekend of June 8-10. This tournament pulls teams from 12 state associations to determine a champion. This year 10 teams in the U16 age group made the trip to Tampa.
The Elite '91 team had an amazing run through the Regional competition, scoring 13 goals while allowing none to be scored against them through their five games. Only a 0-0 tie game in their opener against the Florida team kept them from an all-wininng tournament.
After the tie against Florida, which was delayed and then interupted again due to lightning, the Texans Elite easily handled the Tennessee team winning 6-0, and then dominated the Oklahoma team 2-0 to finish the prelims at the top of their bracket.
In the semi-finals, against the Louisana team, the Lafayette Thunder, the Texans Elite played an outstanding game, again stopping the opponent's offense and scoring 4 goals of their own to win 4-0.
The finals, played in the mid-afternoon heat and humidity of Tampa, pitted the Texans against the North Texas representative, the DFW Tejanos Premier from the Dallas area. A hard-fought game to the very end, the Texans again prevented any scoring and topped the Tejanos by a 1-0 score.
Our congratulations to the boys, and also to their trainer, coaches and parents on the crowning finish to an outstanding season!

Texas Blue Chip College Showcase a HUGE SUCCESS!
The Texas Blue Chip College Coaches Showcase was a huge success again in 2007. With the top sophomores, juniors and seniors teams from Denver, Tulsa, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Austin, and San Antonio and Houston.
Here is what a few college coaches had to say:
- Lev Kirshner-Head Coach San Diego State University—Great job on the tourney. First class all the way.
- Tom Wait-Head Coach Letourneau University—The tournament was a model for others. I made several contacts and could not have been made to feel more comfortable than what you and your parents provided. I will look forward to next year.
- Tim McClements, Assistant Coach at SMU—Thanks for everything this weekend!!! The showcase was a great event as usual.
- Kevin Fickes-Assistant Coach at Colorado School of Mines and Head coach of Real Colorado U16 Team—Great event this year! The weather was great, the competition good, and the fields made the boys very happy. As a college coach, the event was hospitable as always, and lots of good players to see.

Texans Alumni Named Player-of-the-Week
ALEX DAWSON OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a first-year forward from spring, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week
for matches played from Friday, September 1 through Monday, September
4.
Dawson scored a pair of goals and had an assist in Austin College’s two wins over Mary Hardin-Baylor and McMurry to begin the season. Dawson scored in the second half of a 3-0 win over UMHB and assisted on the game winner versus McMurry. Dawson added a tally of his own to seal the victory at McMurry.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward German Gomez (TSC Texans alumni) of Trinity helped the Tigers to two wins to open the 2006 season, defeating Hardin-Simmons and UT-Tyler 5-2 and 5-1, respectively. Gomez sealed the win over UT-Tyler with back-to-back second half goals off the bench. With Trinity clinging to a 2-1 lead, Gomez’s 58th and 64th minute goals put the game out of reach. Junior forward Nick Judah of Centre started where he left off last season, scoring in each half to help lead the Colonels to an opening 3-0 win over visiting Hanover College. Judah, who finished with a team-leading nine goals last season, scored in the 20th minute off a near-post blast and in the 53rd minute on a break-away. Senior forward Nick Noel of DePauw scored two goals and assisted on the other in the Tigers' 3-1 win over Alma. Senior forward Lauro Davalos of Southwestern played a major role in the Pirates offense in their first two games of the season as Southwestern split games against UT-Tyler and Hardin-Simmons. Davalos assisted both of the Pirate goals in the 4-2 loss to Texas-Tyler. The next day, the Pirates faced off against Hardin-Simmons and Davalos helped get things rolling with an assist at 21:23, giving SU its first lead of the season. Later, with less than five minutes to play, Davalos fed Cory Fujimoto for the game-winner and his fourth assist in two games. Junior midfielder Nick Forsten (TSC Texans alumni) of Hendrix had one goal on six shots (four on goal) in the Warriors' season-opening win over Louisiana College, 2-1. Austin, Millsaps, Oglethorpe, Rhodes and Sewanee did not nominate anyone for the award.

Texans Elite '91 Win Plano Invitational!
The Plano Invitational tournament got off to a rocky start for our Texans Elite 91 (photo) as they lost their first match on Saturday. But, they didn't let this get them down and they won the remaining two pre-lim games, each by a score of 2-1, and ended up as the top-seeded team in their bracket, advancing to the quarter-final game on Sunday afternoon.
The wins just kept on rolling in as they won the Quarter-final match 2-1 over the Texas Longhorns 91 Navy; then the Semi-final on Monday morning over the Andromeda North team by the convincing score of 3-0.
Our opponent in the finals was the Texas Football Club 91 Boys. We had previously played and beaten them 2-1 in the pre-lims, but they had several starters out for that game and we expected a different team for the finals.
The game, played at Pizza Hut Park, home of the Dallas FC MLS team, took place in near-constant light rain. The wet field and ball contributed to a slow start, but midway through the first half Patrick passed to Carlos for our first goal. The half ended with us in the lead 1-0.
But we knew the opponents were capable of coming back since they were down 2-0 earlier in the morning and ended up winning their Semi-final match, 6-2. Our defenders continued to hold them scoreless to the end and the 2-0 score was eventually final.
Congratulations, Champions!

The TSC Classics U19 place 2nd at the Region III President's Cup
The TSC Classics U19 placed 2nd at the Region III President's Cup, losing to Kissimee, FL 1-0 in the Final. The competition was held at the Jack Russell Soccer Complex in Decatur, AL.
The TSC Classics advanced to the final with a 3-0 win in the semi-finals against the Cobras from Nashville, TN. The first goal of the semifinal match came on an own-goal from a Matthew Lewis free-kick just outside the penalty area. In the second half, TSC had most of the possession resulting in two goals, one from Matthew Lewis and another from Jarrod Payne. It was both players' second goal of the competition. The Cobras won the competition the previous year (U18).
The final saw numerous opportunities for TSC Classics to score, missing several chances in the first half. At halftime, TSC had 8 corners and 10 shots compared to 2 corners and two shots for Florida. The lack of goals did not take away from the excitement of the game, though. The second half was end-to-end action with both teams missing several chances. But, in the 90th minute of the game, Florida were on the attack and were able to capitalize on a missed clearance to score the only goal of the game.
In three round-robin games TSC had two wins and a loss, scoring 9 goals and conceding only two. Their loss was to another team from Tennessee. Leading scorers for TSC Classics were Alex Medina (3), Matthew Lewis (2), Jarrod Payne (2), Kenny Garcia (1) and Michael McCarthy (1).
